Deep Web Technologies Chosen to Speak on the Future of Scientific Discovery at Special Libraries Association (SLA) Centennial Conference

SANTA FE, N.M., June 12, 2009 — Abe Lederman, President and CTO of Deep Web Technologies, will speak to the Science and Technology communities at the Special Libraries Association (SLA) centennial conference in Washington, DC, this June 2009. His contributed paper, “Science Research: Journey to 10,000 Sources,” was among nine proposals selected out of fifty-three submissions. Each paper was evaluated on quality of writing, scope, objectives and innovation.

“I am pleased to address such an important subject - the acceleration of discovery of scientific information - at SLA’s centennial conference,” noted Lederman. “A future in which searching thousands of collections in parallel is not only achievable, but quickly becoming a strategic necessity.”

The theme of this year’s conference is Information to Inspiration: Knowledge & Vision Shaping the Future. Inspired by the potential for a massively scalable research application, Mr. Lederman’s paper includes his vision for distilling the overwhelming amount of available electronic information via a divide-and-conquer approach. His talk will include the benefits, the challenges and a technical overview on achieving the vision through the use of next-generation federated search technology.

“The timing of my talk at this milestone conference is perfect as we are launching a new version of ScienceResearch.com (http://www.scienceresearch.com) at SLA that searches more science than any other publicly searchable scientific portal in the world,” Lederman continued.
